Biography

Eralp is a senior researcher with a research focus on the modelling mechanics of crystalline solids. He received his Ph.D. degree from RWTH Aachen University. He then held postdoctoral positions at Cornell University Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and at University of Bristol Mechanical Engineering, focussing on different projects involving finite element modelling and crystal mechanics.

Eralp is the lead developer of the OXFORD-UMAT crystal plasticity framework in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, aimed at simulating different applications related to microstructure-sensitive materials modelling to deal with wide variety of materials, equipped with novel strain gradient and backstress models.
